Opening Files in O365 on the Web
Opening files may be a bit different process than what you are used to.
Method 1:
Dragging and dropping on the web. With office.com open in your browser you are able to simply drag and drop a file onto the homepage or corresponding program page, and office.com will open it for you automatically. The blue lines that appear when dragging a file over indicate that the file is an accepted format and will open. (Word doc, Excel sheet, etc...)
Method 2:
Opening through Onedrive on the web. You can place files inside of your Onedrive folder and then open them on the web with a single click.
Navigate to Office.com, then click the box of dots in the upper left-hand corner of the page.
Click on Onedrive, then navigate to the corresponding folder the desired file is in.
Single-click the file and it will open!

-

-
When you are finished Navigate to:
File, Save as, Download copy.
-
Navigate to your downloads folder on your computer and find the file, right-click and select copy one more. Navigate to your shared drive and right-click and select paste. (If it asks if you would like to overwrite the file select yes.)
You are done! You have successfully Copied, edited, and replaced a shared drive document.
Backing up your files with Onedrive
Backing up files to your Onedrive is very easy.
You can start by organizing your One drive with as many folders and subfolders as you want.
When you are ready, simply drag and drop the files you wish to back up, directly into the folder you want, inside of your Onedrive.
Once you have done so, you will notice a series of symbols under the status column.
These symbols are indicators of what your files are doing on Onedrive. A green checkmark means that the files or folders are done uploading and have successfully synced to Office.com
The two arrows spinning into each other means the files or folders are still syncing.
Note: if you see a cloud that looks like the Onedrive logo, then that means the file was uploaded to office.com FIRST and that Onedrive made a copy of it on your computer.
