IT recommends that all Android users use the Gmail App as the primary mail app on their mobile devices. The Gmail App is the same across all versions of Android and is historically the most consistent mobile email app we have come across. For these reasons it is the only mobile email app that IT supports on Android devices. You can also install the Gmail App on your Apple devices.
Using the steps below you should be able to set up the Gmail App on your mobile device to receive your company email.
Download the Gmail Application from the Google Play Store
Open the application and add an account
1. Choose Exchange and Office 365 from the following screen
2. Enter your email address on the following screen (DON’T Click Next) and choose Manual Setup
3. On the following screen choose Exchange
4. On the following screen put in your email password and choose Next
5. On the following screen, you will keep everything set as default except for the server name. It will show npgco.com but you need to change that to mail.npgco.com. Once that is changed choose Next.
6. You may get the following alert that says, “Remote Security Administration.” Please choose Ok
7. You may be prompted to elevate the app to device admin. You should choose Activate this device admin app. If you do not, the application will not open up to your email. It will prompt you with this screen again.
8. Your account will now be set up and you should see the following screen. You can change this information or leave it be as you see fit.
9. Something optional that you may want to do after setting up the application is changing the sync times and range of the emails that the Gmail Application pulls in. If you open the Gmail Application and go to your work email account you should click the 3 Horizontal lines in the top left of the application and then go down choose settings.
10. Inside of the applications settings, you will see many different options like setting your mobile signature, but the most important settings are the Sync frequency (Default 30 minutes) and Sync emails from: (Default Last week). Changing the Sync frequency will use more data and battery but will make the Gmail App sync your emails to your phone faster. Changing the Sync emails from will allow you to see all of your emails for the chosen period of time but also may use up more storage on your device.
If you still are having issues with getting the email to show up then disable the Gmail app in Settings>Apps>Gmail then Reenable the app and readd the email.
