Print deploy is a program that will help ease the workflow of both Admins and End users.

What is Print Deploy?

Print deploy is a program that is going to help manage your printers, based on a zone you are in. It installs these printer automatically while you are inside this zone.

Your zone is determined by where at in the building you are. For example:

If you are in the newsroom, you will see all of the news room printers, plus the follow me printer. If you were to leave the newsroom, and go to accounting, then print deploy would remove the newsroom printers and add the accounting printers for you. Because you left the newsroom zone, and entered the accounting zone!

What will change for you? 

Most end users will not even notice that print deploy has been installed. There will be a new icon in your task tray that looks like this:

You can right click this icon and select "view my printers" and it will show you a list of all available printers in your current zone.

Since I am in the IT zone, Print Deploy is showing the IT office printer, as well as follow me.

If you click on "Add Printers" you will see a list of "optional" printers.

Not all departments will see all of these printers, but there will be optional printers available based on how many printers there are in the area. If you need to install an Optional Printer, then just click on the green Install button and it will be installed.

To remove an optional printer simply click on the trash can icon next to the installed printer.

If there are no printers available in the zone, or you are not in a current zone IE: You are working from home off the VPN, Out of office, or on a public network somewhere. You will see no printeres under your "My Printers" tab. This is normal.

The biggest difference you will see is the printer names will have more descriptive names, like: KNPN Sales, Newsroom, Advertising Color...etc when trying to print a document.

Printing a document is no different than before. Simply select the desired printer and click print.

You may need to click on "see more" to find the newly installed print deploy printer name. Once you find the desired named, in this case "St.Joseph IT Office"...you can click print and your document will be printed.
