We are creating a pool of laptops specifically as loaners. In the past when a department needed a loaner, we would see what options that department had available inventory that would work as a loaner or replacement until a new one was ordered or fixed. We have been seeing a need for more loaners as of late and not all departments have equipment available to meet the needs for a temporary solution.
Loaner laptops will be available for users at the request of a manager. A non-manager employee cannot request a loaner laptop by submitting a ticket.
If we have a ticket that requires us to work on the laptop for an extended period of time, we will issue a temporary laptop until completion.
The temporary laptops can only be held for up to 4 weeks at a time, at that time we will need it returned to the pool to ensure availability for all.
We will extend the request if the replacement purchased equipment is behind schedule, or if it has been sent in for repair and has not been returned. Our main goal is to prevent them from being treated as long-term replacements.
These laptops will be under the NPGC Assets and not assigned to any specific company or department but will be available to whoever is in need.
We will track these loaners in Asset Panda and assign them under the needed user and set a reminder for a due date to be returned.
Once returned we will clear any previous user data from the laptop and ensure it is kept up-to-date and ready for use.
The loaner laptops will come with a charger that must be included upon return and they also work with all the docks currently utilized by the company.
