Dialing On NPG Phone Systems

Calls to other NPG employees

If you are wanting to dial another employee of NPG at your location, or at a different location that is on our phone system, you can just dial their 5 digit extension.  If you dial their 10 digit(external) number, you may here a message stating that "you are dialing long distance when it could be dialed locally."  What this means is that the person you called should have a 5 digit extension that you could dial instead of dialing out through the phone company.  Dialing the 5 digit extension saves the company money since it is not going through the phone company and stays internal to our systems.  To find the employees extension, use the directories as described here.

Calls to NPG Conference Bridges

If you are dialing into an NPG conference Bridge(ie... 816-749-2850 Bridge# 60XX) from an NPG phone, you can dial the bridge number directly from your phone by adding an " * " in front of the 4 digit bridge number(for example: *6010).  You can then enter the bridge password.  You are now directly connected to the conference bridge.

Calls to external numbers

When dialing outside of our company, you will need to dial 9 first.  This tells the phone system you want to dial an outside number.  After that, you can dial local numbers by dialing the 7 digits or the full 10 digits.(for example...  9-271-8500 OR 9-816-271-8500)

For long distance calls, you will need to dial 9 then 1 for long distance, then the full 10 digits.

(for example... 9-1-816-271-8500)

International calls

International calls are typically blocked unless otherwise requested by your local GM.  If you need to be able to dial to international numbers, we will need an email from your GM stating what is needed.  It is usually helpful for you to send them the email stating what country you need to call and they can forward that to us stating their approval.  We will then activate your phone and phone system if needed to be able to make the needed calls.  

Dialing international calls requires your voicemail password.  If you do not know your password, you should be able to change it by going into your voicemail settings as stated here.

Once IT has enable the feature on your phone and you know your voicemail password just Dial 9011 and the number and pause for instructions. (for example... 9011-1-649-331-0313). You will hear a voice instructing you to "enter your password followed by the pound key". This is your voicemail password and you must enter it (for example... 1111#) and the call will begin dialing.

Emergency Calls (911)

You should be able to dial 911 from any phone on the NPG phone system for emergencies.  

If you are unable to dial 911 for some reason, you should use the nearest cell phone to dial 911.  When you are able to, please submit a ticket letting us know that 911 did not work when you dialed it.
