Local Conferencing

This article is referring to conferencing done on your phone and does not cover our conferencing server.

If you are on a call with someone, and need to join 1 or more participants to a call, you can easily do so.  Press the "Conf" softkey while in call. ( Note: If you have more than 1 call in progress on your phone, ie.. 1 on the phone and/or 1 or more on hold, you will be joining all to the conference call)

Once the conference call has started, you can add participants by having them call you and pressing the "join" softkey once you pick up their call, or by calling them and pressing the "join" softkey once they pickup.  You will need to exit the conference menu to make a new call.

(Note: you may have to move the highlighted name up or down by using the up/down arrows to the person you are trying to join into the conference call.)

You should see a full list of participants of the conference call on your screen.  You can move the up/down arrow keys to highlight any of the users.  This will allow you to do the following:

  • mute a user if needed(Note: this will alert the user that they are muted)
  • Unmute a user(Note: this will also alert the user they have been unmuted.  The option to unmute is by pressing the "Mute" softkey again)
  • Kick a user from the conference
  • Moderator - This option can be used to add other callers as moderator, if they are on your local phone system.  If you are on a call with a vendor and have added someone else in your department to the call, you can add the person in the department as a moderator at that point.  This allows them to keep the call in progress if you need to hangup, as well as control the functions listed above.

If you hang up your phone during the conference and you have not added another moderator, you will also kick all other users from the conference.
